7.21.08 MORE FROM CHEYNE

Alright, so after Australia I told my girlfriend I would drive up to her hometown in Seattle with her. She had to move all her stuff from college back home, so I went along for the ride. I never drove further north than San Francisco, so I was stoked to do it. We stayed a night in San Fran and ate some crab and saw a bunch of hippies at Haight & Ashbury. We took the 101 from there up to Oregon through the Redwood forest. That was sick. I’ve never seen trees that big, and it was cool to see them person. If you haven’t ever been up there you should definitely check it. I took over driving after the Redwoods and powered through Oregon in one day and we got to Seattle in a total of three days. Lately I’ve just been cruising around checking out deer and other random animals that walk through my chicks backyard. There is a sick bowl I’ve been skating everyday too its called the Bainbridge bowl. I don’t have any pics of it but you can see it on concretedisciples.com. Oh and it was my bday on the 14tg twenty-five big ones. Yay for me. See yall at the Open for another crazy signing!

7.18.08 CHEYNE MAGNUSSON: TAHITI

Soooo, I went to Tahiti with Body Glove and it was the sickest trip ever because it was a surf/dive trip and we scored epic waves and the diving was insane. I went there with Alex Gray and Holly Beck who are rad people to travel with. It was the best I have surfed chopes and I ended up getting a pretty thick west one which I was psyched on! We also scored Tamae, which is a right somewhere else in Tahiti, and it was one of the best sessions Alex and myself have ever had pretty much averaging about three barrels per wave. The crew was awesome and everyone had a good time. We stayed in those crazy bungalows that are right over the water and are pretty much for honeymooners only. We kinda disturbed the peace at this five-star resort by throwing a beer pong tournament right next to the pool where all the newlyweds were bronzing. We also dove with a bunch of sharks, which was cool and one of the dive instructors got his finger bit. It was all good though and everyone made it out alive.

7.17.08 CHEYNE MAGNUSSON UPDATE

After Tahiti I had a short break back home and went straight back to Australia for a surf/skate trip. Kinda in to the combo trips lately. Ee rented an RV and drove from Sydney to Brisbane skating all the parks we found along the way and surfing all the breaks we found as well. It was pretty insane, and the crew was rad. Along for the trip was Mike Morrissey, Aron Geiger, and Rob Brown. The trip was definitely fun, our RV was constantly stocked with beer and pb&j’s and a couple really strange porn mags. Once again we all had a good time and everyone made it back in relatively one piece. Until next time.

7.7.08 30TH NSSA NATIONALS

Another spectacular NSSA season has come to a conclusion. With glassy conditions in the morning, the wind picked up a bit throughout the day, but the waist to chest high SW swell couldn’t have made for more classic Lowers conditions. From Kolohe Andino being the youngest Men’s Open finalist ever, to Granger Larson and Nat Young making three finals each, to an Airshow Finals that saw three competitors donning Speedos, the last day of the 30th Nationals packed a ton of punch.

6.24.08 INTERNATIONAL SURFING DAY

International Surfing Day

Osiris’ surf marketing manager, Eric Sorensen, decided to not only make a day out of surfing and beach clean up, but take it to the next level with free food, games and other activities so kids could feel apart of ISD and have fun.

The day was perfect, the sun blazing hot, perfect waves at 15th street and hundreds of surfers, families and kids were there to enjoy a day at the beach.

Eric noticed that there were a lot of families and kids at the beach and knew that with free food, product giveaways, and games that this would attract a lot of attention, so he decided to take a bunch of kids out surfing before he started the chaos.

Once the BBQ started the kids and families started lining up and were curious about what Osiris was there for. Not many people new about ISD, but once they were informed and saw the kids having fun and Osiris was giving back to the kids and the community, the buzz spread up and down the beach.

The day progressed and more and more kids and families were hanging out enjoying the activities, but there came a point when the fun had to stop and that was when Eric shut down by the police.

The event was a success and the police were supporting us through out the day for what we were doing for the community. Unfortunately it just got to big and the police said that they had to contain us. Eric accepted his ticket and then proceeded to the beach too clean up and feed people that were coming in from a day of surfing.
