6.16.09 THE ECO CUP
Last weekend, the mini-mega ramp was set up right in the middle of a hippie festival. Everyone from Bob Burnquist to PLG was out there competing for the $40,000 in prize money. Christian Hosoi was supposed to be a judge but couldn’t make it, so they got Lizard King as a replacement. Bands played at the stage right in front of the ramp throughout the weekend. The bill was composed of groups like Dead Kennedys (without Jello Biafra), Hightower, and Bad Brains. If you ventured away from the skate area you’d be surrounded by everything from hula hoops to techno tribal dances that went all night long. PLG won the rail jam and contest with killer moves like this pop-shuv nosegrind on the rainbow rail.
