6.2.09 JIMMY FITZPATRICK TOOK PART IN THE FIRST IRON CIRCUS
Jimmy Fitzpatrick took part in the first Iron Circus in Santa
Clarita, CA. The event was unlike any other FMX event previously
held. Two teams went head to head in 3 different challenges to earn
points. The team with the most points after three rounds wins. Fitz
was on Team Mulisha with Potter and Scummy. Their challengers were
Team Death Riders with Garrett Ahlf, Jeff Griffin, and Scotty Stephens.
The 3 disciplines were carnival-style games, challenging the riders
to perform acts not normally done on a dirt bike. First, a rider from
each team raced head to head on an oval-track collecting flags. The
first rider back to the finish with all their flags wins. Fitz took
home a win in this challenge. The race was followed by a nose wheelie
contest. Three markers were set 10 feet apart with a bike stand at
one end. Points were earned by riding a nose wheelie from one of the
three distances and successfully landing on the stand. Fitz came
close to landing on the stand, but bike just barely tipped over! For
the final challenge, a long pole was attached to the front fender to
catch rings while riding a wheelie. Fitz caught a few rings and
helped Team Mulisha take home the win.
After Team Mulisha was crowned the winners, all the riders put on a
FMX demo for the fans. The crowd loved the challenges, but the FMX
show is what they really came to see. The fans lined the fences to
get as close as possible to see all the tricks. FItz won over the
crowd with big Double Grab Indian Airs, Cliff Hangers, and Backflips.
He put on an amazing show and helped raise money for charity at the
same time. All proceeds from the event went to charity. Way to go Fitz!
