7.15.08 MALOOF MONEY CUP STREET
After 2 days of prelims and semi-finals, the stage was set Sunday for the street finals. The top 10 advanced and included Nyjah Houston, Terry Kennedy, Darrell Stanton, Chris Cole, Ryan Sheckler, Greg Lutzka, P. Rod, Dennis Buesnitz, Andrew Reynolds, and Jereme Rodgers. With $100,000 for 1st place, everyone wanted that top spot and did everything they could to seal the deal. Everyone skated well and with tricks like Lutzka’s 270 flip noseblunt on the A-frame rail, Chris Cole’s 360 double flipping the Carlsbad gab, and Nyjah’s bigflip front board down the 16, I wouldn’t have wanted to be judging. Lutzka was in the lead, but bruising his heel just minutes into the 16 stair jam, he wasn’t able to return and P. Rod rifled off trick after trick and earned himself the $100,000. This was by far the best contest in skateboarding yet. Let’s just hope this is the standard for all contests to come. Check out the photos below.
