3.28.08 MAYHEM MILLER

MayheM Miller came by the shop today with camera crew in hand, of course. If history has shown us anything, it’s that MayheM doesn’t do anything half-ass. He’s recovering from his ACL surgery and is anxious to get back in the gym, but don’t feel bad for him. His week was spent in Hawaii doing grueling work such as book signings and in-store appearances, like at The Scrap Yard. If that wasn’t enough, there’s a possible TV show in the works, along the same lines as “The Pickup Artist.” Well, more like “The Pickup Artist” meets “A Shot at Love w/Tila Tequila.” Sounds like a hit to us. Stay Tuned.

3.26.08 MY VIEW FROM THE BARNEY ZONE:

Tampa Pro is always an amazing experience. This is my third year attending, and it continues to get better each time. The Osiris crew was John Rattray, Shuriken Shannon, PLG, Kong (Osiris TM) and myself. Our guys were skating well all weekend, and in the street contest, Rattray and Shuriken actually qualified in First and Second respectively. We were so hyped to have riders in the top spots going directly into the finals. Rattray was coming correct all over the course and using his all terrain talents to switch up every run, hitting any obstacle in his path. I need to mention it was Shuriken’s first pro contest of his career and he was skating smoothly with the confidence of a veteran. On the vert ramp, PLG was dominating, skating as consistent as ever and easily made his way to the podium to collect 1st place. In addition to his trophy, Mark Gonzales was in Tampa skating the vert contest and took off his oversize, one-of-a-kind Krooked board and gave it to PLG. It was incredible seeing the Gonz skate in person, and I’m sure PLG will have the exclusive board displayed proudly in his home. Back on the street course the finals were heavy, with runs from Eric Koston, Paul Rodriguez, Greg Lutska, Ryan Sheckler, Dennis Busenitz, Matt Beach, Mike Peterson and more. Shuriken skated consistently and held his own amongst many contest veterans and ended up in a very respectable 12th place. Not bad for his first pro showing! I cannot imagine skating directly after Eric Koston and trying to follow one of his contest runs. Shuriken held it down like a champion! Rattray was in it to win it, and I knew early on he would finish in the top three. Once the dust settled, Rattray was awarded 2nd place, although he was definitely the peoples champ. Rattray changed his flow up every run and was the most exciting guy to watch skate the course. His board control and skill on a skateboard is ridiculous! It was an exciting contest and a great weekend for the Osiris crew. I would like to thank Brian Schaeffer, Ryan Clements, Barak Weiser and Rob Meronek for putting on the best annual contests and always doing it right. We all had an amazing time and during the closing ceremonies I was even awarded a trophy “just for showing up” which was a definite highlight to my weekend. See you guys next year!

Check out a day in the life of Robin Oost. Robin is one of our flow riders from Holland. Of course all of this is in Dutch, but there are some videos to watch, so check them out.
