10.18.07 OSIRIS MMA FIGHTER DENIS KANG
Kang v Akiyama headlines smokin’ HERO’S card.
With everyone gettin’ jacked over M-1 “now “being the UFC’s most lethal threat, open you eyes people cuz HERO’S is puttin’ together some ridiculous cards. The next one will feature Denis Kang and Yoshihiro Akiyama.
Both fighters have been on the shelf for most of 07. Akiyama for gettin’ greased up like a pig against Skauraba and Kang lookin’ for a new contract after Pride closed up shop.
So as long as Akiyama keeps the moisturizer on his hands and off the rest of his bod (something men shouldn’t be doing anyways), we should see a pretty classic middleweight clash on October 28 at Jang Chung Gym in South Korea.
Kang, a Canadian of Korean descent, is already a fighter Korean fans worship. A win against Akiyama will likely have him up for a spot as the country’s President, Prime Minister or Pharaoh. Not really sure what Korea’s calls their political leader, and with a solid Seinfeld rerun on right now, fact checking and “research” is gonna have to take a back seat.
The debut of grappling master/wizard/superstar/gnarliest grappling stud on the planet, Marcelo Garcia, is also gonna go down. Garcia has more hardware from BJJ and grappling tournaments than you have in your garage. If this one hits the ring floor, fagedaboutit. He’ll be scrapin’ with Korean Judoka, Dae Won Kim, who’s been inconsistant in his previous gigs with Pride and DEEP.
Also on the card is a guy that is definitely one of the most improved fighters of 07, Dong Sik Yoon. Outside of a first name that drives the ladies wild (a name caucasians in the US for some reason haven’t bought into when naming their sons), Dong also put up a war in his win against Melvin Manhoef, a fight that for sure was one of this year’s best.
Carlos Newton’s also gonna be making a return to the ring, taking on HERO’S OG, Shungo Oyama. Newton’s always been one of those balls out fighters fans all over Asia love and even though his heyday is behind him, expect Jang Chung to explode when Newton’s name gets called out.

10.16.07 ALEX WINS AGAIN
Last weekend while we were at the Downtown Showdown, our international counter part, Alex Mizurov, was in Berlin Germany for the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds contest. Alex has been on a path of bloodshed and destruction as he’s been winning every contest he’s been entering. This time was no different. Alex took first and most importantly a nice 7000 Euros for his bank account. Be sure to check out Alex and the rest of the international team in the new Osiris video “Feed The Need†premiering November 2nd.
10.15.07 DOWNTOWN SHOWDOWN

Another weekend another contest, but this time it was the Downtown Showdown. Stu Graham showed up and was about to showdown when Creature’s own obstacle took him out in practice Friday. While shooting through the “Darkest Passage into the Depths of Doom and Despair,†Stu decided to stand up midway through and split open his head. Stu is tough, so instead of going to the hospital for stitches, he went out, head butted a door, and had a run in with a flight of stairs adding another bump to his head. Garrett Hill, John Rattray, and James Brockman were all there helping Zero place first in the overall team category and collected a well-earned $30K to split with their fellow teammates. John also placed third in Real’s event entitled “Sacto Rebate†earning himself an additional $1000. Shuriken was on hand for the Label, but decided to let Alfaro and Mumma handle their business. Corey was there as well with his cast supporting his fellow Foundation team memebers. The contest was amazing. That’s what happens when the top pros and ams get together and push each other to the next level. Other highlights included Mike Mo and Sean Malto. Everything they touch turns to gold. They annihilated Girls obstacle “Girls Gonz Wild.†For more photos and video check out the Skateparkoftampa and TWS sites. See you next year.
