10.24.07 HAGY AND OX IN VEGAS

Well guys, I know you might have already seen the video from the Osiris/Metal Mulisha jump show in Vegas for Champ Car, but here is a copy of the video from Fuel TV that will be playing on M80. I don’t think that there is anything better than jumping under the lights of historic downtown Las Vegas. Thanks to Adam Barker for getting this video to us. Check it out if you have not seen it before.

10.23.07 PLG HEADS TO ORLANDO FOR THE FINAL STOP OF THE DEW TOUR.

Plg

What better way to escape the fires taking place in Southern California then to head to blazing heat in Orlando Florida for the final stop of the AST Dew Tour. Coming into this event PLG was a terror on the vert ramp. He’s has been amazing these past 2 months and has been winning contest after contest. PLG came out of the gates banging. He completed both of his 45-second runs, which included a 360 kickflip, switch heelflip 360, 720, and a nollie heelflip backside 360 earning himself a high score of 92.25. With an Injury to Shaun White it was a battle between Pierre and Bucky to see who would take first, but it was Bucky who edged out Peirre and grabbed gold while Pierre held down the Silver. With the last stop finished and the points tallied, Pierre finished 3rd overall in the Dew Tour. Way to go Pierre!

10.23.07 DEW TOUR ORLANDO AND JEREMY LUSK

Jeremy Lusk Superman Flip

The final round of the AST Dew Tour went down over the weekend in Orlando. Coming from sunny and comfortable Southern California to the 100% humidity and 90 degree heat of Central Florida makes me appreciate living where I do. Well, that is until the whole state of California lights on fire! Now hurricanes and unbearable humidity start sounding not so bad!

Anyways, it was hot and moist in Florida, nightmare conditions for anyone out of shape and overweight. Good thing Osiris’ Jeremy Lusk is on his game, in shape and kicking ass! Lusk placed a solid 4th in the FMX finals, just a nut hair of a point behind his Metal Mulisha teammate, Todd Potter, in 3rd.

That fraction of a point might not sound like a big deal, but let’s break this down: Lusk finished the overall Dew Tour points in 4th place, just 1 point out of third place. If he would have made up that fraction of a point on Potter in the finals, and got 3rd place in Orlando, he would have easily got 3rd place overall for the season. The thing that sucks most–and we really hate to rub it in, but we have to–is that some serious bonus money relies upon a 3rd place overall finish at Dew… it came down to fractions of a point for thousands of dollars! Sorry, buddy. Next year it’s on… until then, get Fluffer to bust out the Osiris card and buy drinks for us!

10.23.07 BATTLE OF THE SHOPS

This past Saturday Automatic Magazine held the 4th annual Battle of the Shops. 9 shops brought out their secret weapons to compete on the 4 obstacles to see which shop was truly the best. First up was the Tech Center and Justin Cefai from Zj’s was impressive. Justin with his manny up the A-frame to kickflip to nose manny down easily gave him first place and a cool $1000 for his pocket. After the tech center it was Double Set time. For 30 minutes everyone hucked themselves down the double set as many times as they could. Jimmy Carlin was on a mission. Within minutes, Jimmy landed a hardflip, varial heel, double flip, heelflip, and a dolphin flip before anyone was even warmed up. Jimmy annihilated the double set, and it looked like Jimmy was going to 3-peat on the obstacle until Kevin Romar made a nollie bigspin heel, nollie 360, and a nollie varial heel. Kevin took first and Jimmy had to settle for second. After the double set it was time to watch Josh Matson on the tranny obstacle. Josh is in a league of his own. He slams harder than you think imaginable and laughs it off. I have no idea what Josh landed, but I think it was everything he tried, and most of it was some variation of a trick I could never name. Josh earned himself the $1000. Osiris flow rider Tom “Grom” Remilard tried his hand at the tranny obstacle and was the youngest guy out there and held his own. Early in the event, Tom took a nice man splits slam and hurt his manhood. You can see the grimace in his face as he rode away. Check out the photos to see what pain looks like on the face. It wasn’t a good day for Tom. Once he got on the board again, he took a nice knee slide on the cheese grater cement, and that would end Tom’s day. Tom is still young, so he has plenty more of these events to enter. This will not be the last you see of him. Lastly it was time for the main event. The double set turned into the 10-stair rail, and it was annihilation time. The standouts were Marquise Preston and Wes Kramer. After the dust settled it was Wes with his switch frontside nosegrind, switch flip to boardslide and switch noseblunt slide that earned his first place. Zj’s took home the $5000 and the trophy.
