This past weekend, a few of the Osiris Skate Team attended a signing and demo at a Journey’s location in Detroit. The crew consisted of James Brockman, PLG, Shuriken Shannon and Garrett Hill. It was the majority of the guy’s first time visiting Michigan and overall everyone had a great time. Michigan is beautiful and throughout the lush green landscapes there are and abundance of lakes everywhere you turn. Although this scenery is quite pleasing to the eye, it rained each day of our trip, which put a hindrance on skating outdoors. The team visited Modern Skatepark and enjoyed the world-class indoor street course, concrete bowl and vert ramp. The guys skated the course for hours and afterwards signed some autographs for the gracious locals. It was good to see both James and Garrett take the plunge and drop in on a proper 12 ft. vert ramp. The day of the Backyard BBQ Journey’s started off wet and there was doubt if the massive mini ramp would be skateable in the slippery conditions. The guys gave the moist ramp their best efforts and had some fun. In between ramp runs, Shuriken could be found playing S.K.A.T.E. with locals and at one point was in a circle of over 100 onlookers debating whether or not to challenge Shuriken’s pop and consistency. All day long Osiris had a huge line in front of our tent of people anxious to spin our “Wheel Of Misfortuneâ€. Our newly purchased prize wheel provides the spinner with everything from a free pair of shoes to a pie in the face! Our teamriders were getting as into it as those who stepped right up! Brockman quickly assumed all pie duties and was delivering a plate full of whipped cream to people of all ages. All things considered, the trip went really well, we made the most of the weather and the locals had a chance to witness some amazing skating and hang out with the riders. We’ll be back again next year to take part of the Backyard BBQ, and yes, we’ll bring the “Wheel Of Misfortune.”
