9.29.08 LG FMX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

LG FMX World Championships

The LG FMX World Championships took place this past weekend in Pomona, CA. The course design was one of the most difficult of the year, making it no easy task for the riders to pull off their biggest tricks. The multiple rhythm sections and dirt jumps separated the men from the boys. JeremyLusk, Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Jeff “Ox” Kargola, and Derek Garland were on hand representing the Osiris FMX team.
Fitzpatrick, Ox, and Garland had to ride the open qualifier to make it into the night show. Unfortunately, Fitzpatrick had a practice mishap at his house the night before qualifying, breaking his wrist. The windy conditions during the open qualifier were extremely dangers, causing everyone to ride extremely conservative. Ox made it into the night program, but Garland came up just short.

The night show featured a head to head bracket format, with the winner advancing to the next round. Ox threw down a solid run with big flip variations such as a backflip seat grab and backflip indian
air. While he put in a great effort, Ox would not advance to the next round. Lusk easily made it into the second round and had to face Beau Bamburg. Lusk had no problem with the technical dirt 6 pack, tricking and flipping every jump in the set. Lusk ended his run with a massive backflip seat grab indian air over the poppy dirt kicker. For some reason, this was not good enough for the judges and Lusk did not make it into the final round. First he gets shafted in Salt Lake City and now this? Perhaps the judges should stop by Lens Crafters and get some glasses before they judge next time so they can actually see the huge tricks Lusk does in his runs.
