Day two of X-Games XIII today. The street finals were this morning, and once again it was Chris Cole who took home the gold for the second year in a row. Everyone skate well, but it was Cole and his backside 360 ollie kickflip over the double set that sealed the deal. Greg Lutzka walked away with the silver and Jereme Rodgers took home the bronze. After the finals it was off to the TWS booth for a Corey Duffel and PLG autograph signing. The kids and parents lined up in the warm California sun to get a autograph and a photo of 2 of skateboardings biggest stars. PLG will be on the vert ramp Sunday, so check back for updates. Skateboard street best trick is still to come tonight. You can check it out live if you like.[gallery=30]
It was a hot California afternoon at the Home Depot center this afternoon. As the sun heated up the air, it was the vert skaters that heated up the vert ramp. 10 of the best vert skaters today put it on the line to try an earn X-Games gold. To win gold they would have to have a flawless run, and after the first two runs, it was Mathias Ringstrom who held the first place spot with all 10 riders to take their third and final run. In the middle of the pack it was PLG who finally took Mathias out of the first spot with a run that included a switch 360 heelflip indy, nollie heelflip indy, and a 720. PLG put it together and deserved the first place spot. As the other riders dropped in, no one could knock PLG and Mathias out of their first and second place standings until Shaun White dropped in and annihilated the entire 90 foot vert ramp. As the judges deliberated and came to a decision, Shaun bumped PLG and Mathias down a spot to win X-Games gold while PLG got the silver, and Mathias took bronze.
