Duffel And Bartie At Marine Corps Air Station
It's not often the US military invites you to Japan for a one day demo to celebrate the grand opening of a newly constructed skatepark, so when the invite came Corey Duffel and Chad Bartie jumped at the opportunity and flew to the Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni Japan. Before the demo Corey and Chad had the opportunity to meet a few members of the squadron as well as their families, strap on some flight gear and get close and personal with a few F-18's. It was a day to remember and each walked away with new found respect for all of the service members.
After the tour of the base it was time for Corey and Chad to head to the skatepark for the grand opening and demo. For most of these kids it was this the first time they've seen a professional skateboarder, so needless to say they were all very excited to watch Corey and Chad do their thing and spend the day with them. It was blistering hot and humid but that didn't stop them for tearing the new park to shreds, signing autographs, and handing out product all day long.
A special thank you to Jimmy, Jordan, John, Larry, Kenny, Jeremy, Gary and everyone at MCCS as well as Lt. Col. Lt. Rick Gallup, Jeff Ertwine and Lt. Col. Rick Peterson for the hospitality and allowing us to be a part of such a great event.
