2.8.10 DUFFEL, SHURIKEN AND THE UFC

This past weekend Duffel and Shuriken, along with their lady friends headed to Vegas to check out the UFC with Doug Weston, Osiris owner, and Hans Molenkamp, Osiris PR. Corey posted a a little write up about the weekend on his blog. You can read it below.
Oh so cliché!
Viva Las Vegas
So the other day. Well to be exact. Saturday Feb 6, 2010. Rachel and I flew from Oakland to Vegas to meet up with some good friends for a night of fun.
Hans Molenkamp- founder of triumph untied and a great mate of mine invited us for a UFC match/championship. I don’t know anything of the sport, so sorry for the mix ups or wrong titles. Ha. I couldn’t turn down a trip of fun with some mates. We all met at the Vegas airport (Shuriken and his lady friend Ashley, Hans and Doug Weston, owner of Osiris- one of the coolest guys I know. He has seen a hundred shows I wish I was around for. He was a raging rocker in the glory days of the NYC scene.
Hans set up this whole trip for us and wow what a good host he was. He had us picked up in a limo! It was Rachel’s first time in one. She was excited. Me, being the awesome superstar I am, I go in limos to about everywhere. It is the only way I roll. Jk, but I had been in one before, but always a treat have some bloke drive ya around as you and friends look like jack asses in the back of a limo.
We headed to the wonderful Palms Casino owned by the smashing Maloof’s. We had an amazing suite. Totally unnecessary, but I wasn’t going to complain. We were 50 stories high too, so that is beautiful. I love to look out at the horizon. Staring at the beach and the view from high above never gets old to me.
After check in we headed over to the fight at Mandalay bay. We weren’t too sure where the fight was, but all we had to do was follow the hundreds of barrel chested faux tough guys wearing fight gear brands and arms full of wasted ink. We followed the heard and got to our destination. We had to go to will-call to meet up with Hans’s good friend, I forget her name, but she was very friendly, and she shoots some of the best photos in the genre, to get our tickets. When given my ticket the first thing I checked was where the seats were and ect. I saw the ticket cost 600 wing wangs, so I knew we had brilliant seats. We walked towards the ring and let me tell you. We were so close to the ring, it was wild. When the fights were going down you could hear every blow to the face and I could see the veins trying to pop out of the dudes faces as they were getting chocked out. I am not one to understand acts of brutality like this or hunting for game, but it was cool to be with friends in such amazing seats.
I don’t know who is who in the world of fighting, unless it is Tyson, but there were some cool guys to watch and then there were bi curious ones too. Sweaty and greased up as they groped one another vigorously. If they didn’t wear shorts, there would definitely be some male on male 69ing going on.
After the fights, we stuck around the area to meet some of the fighters and the president of the UFC- Dana White. I got a photo of me and White flexing it up in the octagon. It was pretty cool. Not being a fan, I can’t help but to fan out on things that millions wish they could.
All in all, the fights were a lot of fun. Bring the friends and the 20 dollar hot dogs who can complain ha ha.
